About Dr. William Swan

Dr. William Swan, a leader in the field of interview skills training and performance management

Dr. Swan is president of Swan Consultants, Inc.  Established in 1980, his firm makes available research proven methods associated with interview skills training and the performance appraisal process.  This “science behind the hiring process” is applied in the How To Pick The Right People Selection Interview Workshop, and the Campus Recruitment Interview Program.  The How To Do A Superior Performance Appraisal Program is the performance management system. Each program has a Video Series and Audio Seminar.

A nationally recognized expert in interview skills training and performance appraisal, Dr. Swan conducts seminars and workshops for major corporations and government agencies.  He has personally trained over 100,000 managers to conduct more effective interviews and performance appraisals, and is the author of two major books.  Swan’s How To Pick The Right People Program covers the selection interview process and How To Do A Superior Performance Appraisal focuses on performance management.  Both are published by John Wiley & Sons.

Dr. Swan previously served as Associate Dean, Executive and Professional Education, at the Peter J. Tobin College of Business, St. John’s University.

Prior to establishing his own consulting firm, he was Senior Vice President at Drake Beam Morin and a Senior Trainer with The Psychological Corporation.  There he designed and conducted training programs in selection interviewing, campus recruitment, and performance appraisal, as well as providing general consulting services to a broad range of clients, both in the United States and overseas.

Before joining Drake Beam Morin, Dr. Swan was the Assistant Dean of the New York School of Psychiatry, Staff Director at Albert Einstein Medical Center.  He is a New York State licensed Psychologist, and has served on the faculty of Temple University, Clarkson University and John Jay College.

Dr. Swan served two terms as President of the New York Metropolitan Chapter of the American Society for Training and Development, and served on the chapter’s Board of Directors.  He is also a member of the Society for Human Resource Management.

Dr. Swan earned his Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Temple University, his M.A. from St. John’s University and his B.S. from Manhattan College.
